Moving from one prototype to a production run is where most cost is locked in. A short checklist keeps it disciplined and prevents expensive surprises.
Before you commit to volume
- Has the design passed a DFM review for the chosen process?
- Are tolerances driven by function, not habit?
- Is part count minimized (DFA)?
- Are materials and fasteners standardized?
- Is there a test plan for the first batch?
- Is there a jig/fixture plan for repeatable assembly?
A two-hour review at this stage saves weeks and thousands later. That is the real work KED does — not just designing parts, but designing the path to making them.
All designs and intellectual property shown or discussed remain 100% yours. KED signs an NDA and transfers all IP rights to you on paper.
